Ok so here is the deal, i am planning on moving to Boise, ID from Indiana to go to BSU. I am going to with my boyfriend. Now we want to live together, so we found a nice apartment with affordable rent, and it is .4 of a mile away from the campus. Now my question is what is the difference from living on campus to off campus, and also do you think i made the right choice going with an apartment off campus? Any other info you have, or comments/idea appreciated!!
If you go with the dorms you’d be living with a bunch of strangers, it’s typically noisier, but you’ll meet a lot of people and make new friends.
If you live off-campus it’s quieter, you have to do your own cooking, you don’t have to deal with living with people you don’t know and sharing a bathroom with 50 people. But it’ll be more difficult to meet people and make friends, but not impossible. Living that close to campus though you’ll probably still have a lot of neighbors that are also students, so that’s a plus.
Well, if you’re living off-campus, it may be harder to get involved with the school community. Also, you won’t have all the resources so close to you. I know dorms can cost a lot, but also food, cleaning, and traveling to the school for classes can add up. And, what if you and your boyfriend break up or get in a fight? Living together may not be the best choice, especially with the pressures of a new environment and school there.
What I’m saying is, if you’re so sure of this, then go for it; but make sure you understand the cons of it too.
4 tenths of a mile from campus is not bad at all.
Is your relationship string enough to live together? what is your backup plan should things go sour?
On campus, you will be in a dorm, with all the attendant nonsense…… noise etc. off campus you tend to become isolated….
