Cost of living is different everywhere. For the most part it just depends on the city you live in. The more populated the city the higher the cost of living is going to be. North and South dont really have much of an effect.
What do you think? Answer below!
Cost of living in Atlanta is very high, though it’s South-ish. Cost of living in North Carolina is really low, and the quality of education very high! Your money goes a long way in terms of housing, rentals, groceries, recreation, etc. Cost of living in San Francisco is very high. Can’t rent anything decent below 1 thousand USD+. Cost of living in Boise, Idaho is very low, and you pay so little rent for SUCH BEAUTIFUL apartments! Quality of life is high, and there is a lot of recreation to do like canoeing, boating, biking, and etc. Cost of living on Rochester, New York, is very low. Surprisingly low! The housing expenses is 27 percent below the national average and the quality of education is very high! Cost of living in Maryland is overly high and your money is like worth nothing. You pay so much to rent an ugly place! And the childcare costs is around 13 thousand USD per year per child per family! Cost of education in Maryland is also very high, and the crime rate in Baltimore is higher than the national average for violent crimes! The State of Ohio has a lot to offer, as there are many choices of neighborhoods, and the cost of rentals and living is very low, coupled with a high quality of education and good rate at finding jobs. There’s nothing to do in South Carolina. Virginia Beach, VA has a very low crime rate, with tons of things to do, average cost of living. Texas has severe weather conditions and Texans seem to be less open-minded as a people.
Hope I have helped!
Yes things are cheaper. The cheapest housing in America is in Arkansas where you can literally buy a two story mansion for under $ 100,000
It really just depends on where you are in the south. If it’s a small town (Memphis, Savannah, Tunica, Grand Prairie, etc…) then yes things are more than likely cheaper but if it’s a major southern city (Atlanta, Houston, Uptown Louisiana, etc…) then the cost of living can be just as high or higher as northern cities
As a military family we lived all around the country and the one big difference is the cost of housing. Taxes and Insurance can differ drastically from state to state too. But groceries and shopping are just as expensive everywhere.
