Try to find what’s called a “Credit Union”. Credit unions usually charge a lot less fees than banks and are a lot easier to work with.
Also, try going online and looking for USAA. This is the bank that works with military people. If he’s in the marine’s I think you can go on base and ask for the Marine’s Federal Credit Union. These are the best two choices.
Good luck to you!

Leslie K is on the ball. I am retired Navy and use USAA. I am also a Navy Credit Union member.
USAA is very convenient. You can deposit on-line by simply scanning your check/money order and submitting. If the scanner cannot pick up all the info they will provide you with “postage free” envelopes. From Atlanta it takes approx 3 days to reach them in Texas and to credit. If scanning works credit is instant.
USAA is a sponsor of ours at ArmyWifeNetwork.com. We love them, and they are so wonderful to military spouses, not just the service member. They do do the Deposit-at-home via a scanner like it was said, but you can even take a picture from your phone and send it in, so you don’t ever have to find a bank to do an old-time deposit. They have great other entities like Insurance, Investments, and Movers Advantage. Check us both out! Good luck.
